Abstract

This research investigates the complex interdiscursivity and intertextuality between the Dead Sea Scrolls and the literature of the Second Temple period. It seeks to answer the following question: what interdiscursive and intertextual relations occur between the Dead Sea Scrolls and the original Christian texts and how can they be analyzed and applied from the perspective of the field of Religious Studies? The theoretical framework of the research is structured around the ideas of Bakhtin and Kristeva, respectively, using the concepts of interdiscursivity – or dialogism – and intertextuality. This will be done through bibliographical research, of a qualitative, documentary and exploratory nature. In its tripartite structure, the Dead Sea Scrolls are contextualized historically, from the context of their discovery, their subdivisions to the possible implications for the field of Religious Studies. Then, we seek to locate the interdiscursivity and intertextuality between these manuscripts and part of the original Christian texts found in the Second Testament. Finally, we present the professional proposal of the research, which consists of developing a methodology to be implemented from the perspective of interdiscursivity and intertextuality between the corpora analyzed in the research. We defend the hypothesis that the Christian discourse manifested in a part of the literature of the Second Temple is permeated by themes and ideas crystallized in the Dead Sea Scrolls. Therefore, interdiscursivity and intertextuality presuppose a common origin between these literatures in ancient Judaism, which highlights the plurality of Judaisms that marked the period of the Second Temple.
