VIOLÊNCIAS CONTRA AS MULHERES: ESTUDO DE CASO DE VIOLÊNCIA SIMBÓLICA E RELIGIOSA EM UMA IGREJA PENTECOSTAL NO MUNICÍPIO DE SERRA-ES

Abstract

This study addresses the issue of violence, especially symbolic and religious violence against women, with attention to a black woman pastor, in a Pentecostal church in the municipality of Serra-ES. The general objective is to investigate how the performance in a Pentecostal church in the municipality of Serra-ES influences the phenomenon of violence against women, through symbolic and religious violence, focusing on the ministry of a black pastor. The question-problem that motivated the research is the following: how does the performance of a Pentecostal Church in the municipality of Serra/ES strengthen violence against women, using symbolic and religious violence, including the egalitarian non-recognition of the performance of the shepherdess? The bibliographic review and the case study were used as research methodologies. The theoretical foundation is based on the historical development of feminist movements and reflections, on feminist theology, and on the conceptualization of violence, especially symbolic and religious violence. The case study seeks to reflect on the female pastorate in a Pentecostal church in the municipality of Serra-ES. It appears that the female pastorate in that church suffers from symbolic and religious violence, through fundamentalist discourses that promote the superiority of the male pastor over the female pastor, based on structural machismo and religious patriarchy. The research results point to structural machismo and symbolic and religious violence against women in the context of the researched church.
