O CORPO EM MEIO ÀS MÁQUINAS ESPIRITUAIS: CRÍTICA À NARRATIVA SOTERIOLÓGICA DO TERASEM MOVEMENT E SUAS CONCEPÇÕES PÓS-HUMANISTAS

Abstract

This dissertation work aims to present the posthumanism theme, pointing its main lines of thought, and the religious expression Terasem Movement, grounded in a salvation by technology. Posthumanism in general is characterized by the search for human improvement using the NBIC’s - nanotechnology, biotechnology, internet (big data, learning machine and internet of things) and cognitive science (artificial intelligence and robotics) - or, simply said, the emerging technologies. This work will be guided by the following problem: emerging technologies combined with the discourse of some posthumanist groups are generating new religious expressions. To this end we will be presenting the Sciences of Religions, especially from the Professional Masters from Faculdade Unida, as a tool for reading these possible religious elements involved with the development of these technologies. Furthermore, for better comprehension of some posthumanism representatives’ discourses, we will discuss the new posthuman body idea. To achieve that, we will make use of the Anthropology of the body from David Le Breton, associated with the thesis of the Phenomenology of the Body, by Michel Henry. Lastly we will discuss the importance of analyzing the society-technology-religion connexion, the problems around the posthuman body and will be presenting a proposition of ethics to be followed during the research, development and production of these emerging technologies.
